Nottinghamshire maternity scandal: Independent inquiry begins

An independent inquiry has begun into serious concerns about maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The inquiry will investigate the deaths of babies and mothers at the trust’s maternity units, as well as the care provided to women and their families.

It will also look at the trust’s governance, leadership and culture, as well as its relationships with other organisations.

The inquiry is being led by Dr Bill Kirkup, who also led the independent inquiry into the Morecambe Bay maternity scandal.
