NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday approved a maternity leave of six months for women soldiers of all ranks with effect from January 1 next year. Till now, only officers of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and above and women soldiers deployed in the Army Medical Corps were eligible for the six-month maternity leave. The remaining women soldiers were entitled to a maternity leave of 120 days. The enhanced maternity leave will be available to women officers of the rank of Captain and Major and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) of all arms and services. .
